Important caveat
Recall association is based on official recall data and the evidence used by the matcher. A recall does not automatically establish that every product made by a facility was affected.

What we use it for
FDA recall record pages. Recalling-firm names and product descriptions stay source text. They are not canonical companies, brands, or products, and they are not linked to USDA FSIS plants unless the FDA record contains an EST-wrapped typed USDA identifier such as EST. P-19979.
Last known source snapshot or extract
Each FDA recall page shows dates listed by FDA when present. WhoMadeMyFood does not treat openFDA status fields as a live recall-lifecycle tracker.

Important caveat
FDA recall records come from openFDA food enforcement reports. A recalling firm listed by FDA is source text, not a canonical company, brand, manufacturer, or plant. FDA product descriptions are recall evidence, not current catalog products. FDA Class I, II, and III are not the same as USDA FSIS classifications and are not a cross-agency safety score. Firm-name or address similarity is not enough to link an FDA record to a USDA FSIS establishment. A public plant link requires an EST-wrapped typed USDA identifier such as EST. P-19979, not a product grade or founding year.

The following sources are not live on WhoMadeMyFood. They are listed only so the catalog is honest about what is still out of scope.

  • FDA facility registration, inspections, warning letters, and import alerts

    Not imported. Step 25 imports only openFDA food enforcement recall records.

  • Other FSIS laboratory sampling programs

    Pork, egg, and ready-to-eat sampling programs are not imported.

  • Other FSIS inspection-task datasets

    Inspection tasks other than Livestock Humane Handling and Poultry Good Commercial Practices are not imported.

  • Package UPC lookup

    Not built. WhoMadeMyFood does not infer product-to-plant manufacturing from brand names, package text, or retail barcodes.
