Demes Gourmet Corp. Recalls Chicken and Pork Products Due To Misbranding

S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The chicken sausages were wrapped in hog casings that were not listed on the labels. Hog casings may elicit allergic reactions in the rare cases of individuals known to be allergic to pork proteins. The items were produced on various dates between Sept. 17, 2014, and June 1, 2015.

The following products are subject to recall: [ View Label (PDF Only)] 18 lb. cases of 12 oz. tray packs of Pamana Sweet Chicken Longanisa. The products subject to recall bear the establishment number P-2888 inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in California. The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel conducting a routine food safety assessment of the companys products.

The establishment produces their own in-house labels. FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
