Massachusetts Firm Recalls Ground Beef Products Due To Possible Foreign Matter Contamination

WASHINGTON, Jan. S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The ground beef products were produced on Dec. 23, 2014. The following products are subject to recall: 1-lb. vacuum sealed packages of Wegmans Organic 93% Lean/7% Fat Grass-Fed Ground Beef. 3-pack containing three 1-lb packages of Wegmans Organic 93% Lean/7% Fat Grass-Fed Ground Beef.

The products subject to recall bear the establishment number EST. 8466 inside the USDA mark of inspection and USE OR FREEZE BY 01/16/15. These products produced were shipped to retail locations in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The problem was discovered after the firm received consumer complaints through retail establishments that the product contained small malleable plastic pieces.
